New Focus

A performance by New Focus featuring saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski and pianist Euan Stevenson, plus Phil Smith on the 'surf jazz' music of Finnish composer Valtteri Poyhonen.

Previously unbroadcast concert music by New Focus featuring saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski and pianist Euan Stevenson. Recorded at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, the group take their inspiration from the 1961 Stan Getz album 'Focus'. The band features Konrad Wisznewski (saxophone), Euan Stevenson (piano), Michael Janisch (bass) and Alyn Cosker (drums).
Plus Phil Smith shines the spotlight on Finnish guitarist/composer Valtteri Poyhonen whose music offers a different idea to what we might expect from the sound of Scandinavian jazz via his 'surf jazz' project Dalindeo.
