Hardeep Singh Kohli sits in

Hardeep Singh Kohli sits in for Clare Balding to host the topical faith show. His guest is Christian activist Anne Booth-Clibborn.

Hardeep Singh Kohli sits in for Clare Balding on the topical faith show. As Christian Aid celebrates its 70th anniversary, Anne Booth-Clibborn talks to Hardeep Singh-Kohli about her work for the charity. Aged 89, she is the only living person who's been a part of Christian Aid's journey for the whole of their 70 years. It was whilst working in Kenya for the charity that she met and married her husband, Stanley (later to become Bishop of Manchester). She regularly visited and worked in southern Africa and, standing alongside Desmond Tutu, she witnessed the creation of the state of Namibia as an election monitor. Now retired, she is still involved in the life of Christian Aid in Scotland and remains a committed activist for global justice.

In 1945 on VE day, Anne Booth-Clibborn (pictured here) was 19 years old. As an ambulance driver, she was deployed to Germany in the aftermath of the war. It was the beginning of a lifetime’s work with Christian Aid that would take her around the world. Today she tells Hardeep about her experiences with the charity which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary.
