Radio 2 Artist in Residence: Sir Peter Blake
Claudia Winkleman launches the search for an R2 artist in residence. The chosen artist may attend every R2 event, in return they will create four artistic pieces.
Claudia Winkleman launches the search for a Radio 2 Artist in Residence in association with The Space. The plan is to offer a working artist a golden pass to attend every Radio 2 event for the next twelve months. In return, Radio 2 will ask them to create a minimum of four artistic responses across the year, the winner will be decided by a panel including the renowned pop artist Sir Peter Blake, best known for designing the iconic album sleeve for The Beatles' "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band .
They don't have to go to everything we put on - but they have the chance to should they so desire! The first event they may find themselves attending could be Glastonbury, but as R2 covers a wide range of genres and subjects, they could find themselves at our Battle of Britain commemorations, Folk Awards, Young Brass Musician of the Year or CarFest.
They could work in any field - poetry, sculpture, painting or multi-media - and the search is open to 'professional artists', by which we mean someone who derives at least two thirds of their income from creative endeavour.
It's a rare opportunity to prove the versatility of the artist and Radio 2's commitment to the Arts.
