MOZART IN LONDON

MOZART IN LONDON

During the Mozart family’s visit to London, which lasted from April 1764 to July 1765, the eight-year-old Wolfgang composed his first symphonies and arias, and heard a vast array of music by other composers. Petroc takes a walk around the streets of London that Mozart frequented in the company of the historian Lucy Inglis and talks to the conductor Ian Page who has put together a weekend of concerts and events featuring music written by Mozart on his visit and by the composer’s whose music he would have heard there. We hear the soprano Anna Devin rehearsing J.C Bach’s Adriano in Siria in preparation for this celebration.

DELIUS AND HIS MUSIC

DELIUS AND HIS MUSIC

Frederick Delius was an extraordinarily versatile composer, equally at home with orchestral, instrumental and chamber works as with choral works and songs. There have been many biographies and articles about the life of the composer but up until now there has never been a book which combines biography and musical analysis. In β€œDelius and his Music” Martin Lee-Browne and Paul Guinery cover his entire output from his earliest compositions and β€œtrifles” to the mighty, ninety minute β€œA Mass for Life”. Petroc talks to the authors and reviews the book with Daniel Grimley, Professor of Music at Oxford University.
