Suckling Family
Series in which families try out life overseas. Having left his birthplace of New Zealand for his wife, Courtenay now wants to return home for good.
Having met her while travelling, New Zealand-born Courtenay ended up following the love of his life Helen halfway around the globe and settling down in the UK. Now he's keen to uproot his family and return to the country he calls home.
Close family ties in the UK, however, mean a move would be anything but straightforward for wife Helen. She also worries about work prospects down under.
On a trial week spent living in Auckland, at least some of Helen's concerns are addressed, but it's Courtenay himself who starts to question whether a move is in the family's best interests.

Update on the Suckling family
Helen and Courtenay say their trip down under taught them how good their life in the UK really was. For now, they’ve decided to stay in the UK, but a move isn’t necessarily off the cards for good.
Helen’s parents have recently moved to Poole to be near the family, meaning the couple now have more help with their children, and have become an even closer family unit. This has seen Helen and Courtenay decide to put a move on hold for now.
The family is planning to re-evaluate a move down under in two years time, when both Alice and Digby have completed studies at their first school.
Later this year, Helen and Courtenay plan to build an extension on their house. One of the reasons for this is to add value to their property, so that if a move to Auckland does happen in the future they’d have more money to spend on property in New Zealand.
