Control of Horses Act
Abandoned or uncared for horses and ponies have increasingly become a feature of the Welsh landscape in recent years.Β Β
Last year the Welsh Government acted to rein in the problem, introducing a new law that makes it easier for councils to seize stray horses.Β
But rounding up the animals can be an expensive business and councils aren’t obliged to use their new powers.Β
A year on from the introduction of the Control of Horses Act, Eye on Wales asks what difference the legislation has made and what more needs to be done to tackle the problem of ponies and horses roaming our commons and council estates.Β
Presented by Kayley Thomas.
