The Equality and Human Rights Commission wants more Gypsy traveller sites across Scotland. Louise White asks listeners for their views.
TOPIC 1: GYPSY TRAVELLER SITES
Scotland's travelling community is likely to face continued hostility unless there is action to provide it with proper sites, it has been warned. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) said there were positive examples but also tensions and confusion over funding and planning. Lack of provision was blamed for stoking hostility to Gypsy Travellers "pulling in" at some locations. In 2014 there were 59 named sites in 18 local authority areas in Scotland.
Louise asks: The Equality and Human Rights Commission want more gypsy traveller sites across Scotland, do you?
TOPIC 2: LGBT SCHOOLS
A youth group in Manchester has drawn up a controversial plans for Britain's first school for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender pupils. LGBT Youth North West wants school to cater for children aged 13 and older who have been bullied and would like the idea to be copied across the country. According to Amelia Lee, the group's strategic director, the idea is based on the Harvey Milk School in New York, named after the American politician and gay rights campaigner. Ms Lee said: "Teachers in mainstream schools have problems in tackling issues like homophobic bullying and coming out. Unfortunately, schools can be one of the last bastions of homophobia."
Louise asks: Would separate schools for LGBT pupils help tackle homophobia?
Extra Question:
As temperatures continue to plunge and the snow continues to fall across the country, we want to know if you are embracing the winter weather or are you staying indoors and keeping warm till the weather gets better?
