Paul Gambaccini blends digital tracks from the week's US charts of songs, albums, R&B, country and rock hits with LP and singles tracks from the last six decades.

Paul Gambaccini presents tracks from this week's US charts and hits from the last six decades.

Each week, songs are played by artists who have been inducted into 'The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame'. Working alphabetically through the list, tonight Paul plays '(Mama) He Treats Your Daughter Mean' by Ruth Brown and 'The Pretender' by Jackson Browne. In 'A Matter Of Life And Death', we celebrate the birthday in 1945 of Stephen Stills by playing his first solo hit 'Love The One You're With'. Paul also pays tribute to Joe Cocker, who has recently died, by playing Joe's US Top Five hit 'You Are So Beautiful'. 'It's Not The Same Old Song' features 'Dancing In The Dark' sung by Frank Sinatra and a Terrific Two with the same title by Bruce Springsteen.

In the feature called 'Beyond The Sea', Paul plays tracks from the biggest selling albums by UK artists in America. Tonight, we hear songs from LPs by Steve Winwood and The Clash. 'The Other Number Ones' highlights records that reached number one in the 'Cashbox' magazine American chart, but not in the 'Billboard' Hot 100. Tonight's examples are by Tom Jones and Donna Lewis.

Our R&B hits are from 1956 and this week by The Platters and Avery Sunshine. We hear Country number ones from 1975 and now by George Jones and Craig Wayne Boyd. This week's featured past and present Rock number ones are by Don Henley and Hozier. Taylor Swift has the number one album in America, '1989', for a sixth week and the best selling song of the week is 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars.
