Six Stories of Bombay Bicycle Club
Six mini-documentaries about Bombay Bicycle Club, devised in collaboration with the band and each fronted by a different presenter or band member.
Why make one documentary about a band when you can make six? Shaking up the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1 Stories concept, this hour long programme features six mini documentaries about Bombay Bicycle Club, all devised and made in collaboration with the band themselves.
Each fronted by a different presenter or member of the band, they include a ten minute mix by singer Jack Steadman, pulling together all their influences - musical and otherwise. Long time supporter Huw Stephens sits the band down in the studio to discuss the anatomy of a track, finding out how their creations evolve from early demos into the final versions on the album. And the band introduce us to their most important collaborators, from guitarist Jamie MacColl's dad (a musician in his own right and half-brother of the late Kirsty MacColl), to singer Lucy Rose and producer Jim Abbiss.
Not only that, but we also have our own mini rock-doc as we follow the band preparing for one of the biggest gigs of their lives at London's Earl's Court, which rounds off an extraordinary year for Bombay Bicycle Club. A year in which they've had a number 1 selling album and been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
Plus Zane Lowe is given the chance to play the band some of their hilariously awkward early Radio 1 interviews as they discuss their reputation for being media-shy.
Last, but by no means least, we hand the reins over to the band's maverick keyboardist and video-maker Louis to create his own wild-card ten minute masterpiece for Radio 1. Anything could happen.
