Former cricketer Sir Ian Botham has been speaking about his father's dementia and how difficult it was to cope with the deteriorating condition.Μύ

He told Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Inside Out's Chris Jackson how he hired a private jet to take his father, Leslie, on holiday which would be his final trip abroad. But the experience proved to be painful and distressing.Μύ

When Leslie became a patient in a care home, Sir Ian said he found the experience increasingly difficult and eventually decided to stop visiting his father.ΜύΒ

This week, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published its inspection report, Cracks in the Pathway, which found dementia care is variable in some care homes and hospitals in England.

Woman loses house after dementia misdiagnosis

A woman who was misdiagnosed with dementia has said she sold her home to pay for care she did not need.

Winnie Hill fromΒ Devon, spent a year in a specialist unit before being told she had mild cognitive impairment and "there was nothing wrong her".

The Department of Health declined to comment on the case but said Β£90m was being spent on dementia services.
