Why Music Needs Fashion

Mary Anne Hobbs is joined by punk rocker and fashion expert Brix Smith Start, who talks about why music needs the fashion world.

Punk rocker-cum-fashion guru Brix Smith Start (The Fall) guests on the show, to discuss the importance of the fashion industry to music.
After leaving Mark E Smith's gang in 1989, Brix decided to leave the music world. She went on to co-found trendy boutique Start, and has since appeared as a fashion expert on Channel 4's Gok's Fashion Fix, Ultimate Shopper, and Sky's coverage of the 2011 Academy Awards and Royal Ascot.
There will also be tracks and comment from some of the our favourite musicians to have dabbled in clothes designing, including Lykke Li and Albert Hammond Jr (The Strokes).
You can expect slinky songs to soundtrack your own bedroom catwalk. Best pyjamas needed.
This September, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 6 Music present Sound of Style a season dedicated to the entwined worlds of fashion and music. 6 Music will be featuring tailored programming presenting by our own kings and queens of style ... the likes of Lauren Laverne, Iggy Pop, John Cooper Clarke, Stuart Maconie and Don Letts.
