Louise White asks how more people could be encouraged to cycle to work.
TOPIC 1: CYCLE TO WORK
Today is Cycle to Work Day, an annual initiative to encourage commuters to travel by bicycle. And a new study of cyclists and employers found that cyclists are more likely to be successful at work as they are fitter, more alert and take fewer sick days. Among cyclists 82% said they felt less stressed, 77% felt more focussed and 15% felt that they had a better chance of progressing in their career.
Louise asks: How can we encourage more people to cycle to work?
TOPIC 2: CIRCUS ANIMALS
The Westminster government has promised to make it illegal to use wild animals in circuses by the next election. The draft Wild Animals in Circuses Bill was re-introduced to the commons today under the ten minute rule. There are currently 2 circuses in the UK with wild animals and they often bring in other animals on loan from abroad. Whilst this debate is focussed on England at the moment there is nothing to stop circuses that use animals from visiting or residing in Scotland so there are calls for Holyrood to follow suit and take a hard line on the issue. Some fear if they are banned in England they'll simply move north of the border.
Louise asks: Should circuses be banned from using wild animals?
