Disco Origins
Ana explores the evolution of the genre. Featuring music from James Brown, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers, People's Choice, Mulatu Astatke and Osibisa.
Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters presents a non-stop mix of records from the dancing days of the disco era.
In 'Disco Origins' - the first programme of this new sextet of shows - Ana explores the evolution of the genre. Disco emerged from a melting pot of sounds, combining soul, jazz, funk and rhythms from Latin America and Africa. The artists featured tonight include American soul greats James Brown, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers, Philadelphia's funk band People's Choice, Mulatu Astatke from Ethiopia and the Afro-Caribbean band Osibisa.
