Clare Balding presents the topical faith show. Her guest is jazz singer Gregory Porter.
Clare Balding presents the topical faith show. Her guest is the American jazz singer Gregory Porter whose album 'Liquid Spirit' won the GRAMMY award for best jazz vocal album in January. Gregory talks about how a shoulder injury led him from a career in American football to a career in music, and about his family of preachers who introduced him to a deep spirituality and to Gospel music. On the day of the canonisation of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII, Clare talks live to David Willey, the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's Rome correspondent since 1972 and biographer of Pope John Paul II. Clare's faith guest is Dr Damian Howard, a Jesuit priest and lecturer at Heythrop College in London.
Producer: Janet McLarty.

Gregory Porter
Gregory Porter has been called the next great male jazz singer. His third album ‘Liquid Spirit’ won best jazz vocal album at this year's GRAMMY awards. Gregory talks to Clare about growing up with a mother who was a church minister, the influence of that upbringing on his musical education, and how a shoulder injury during his freshman year at university hampered his dreams of a career in football and led to a career in music.
Canonisation of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII
David Willey, the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's Rome correspondent and biographer of Pope John Paul II, talks to Clare live from Rome where ceremonies for the canonisation of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII are getting underway.Â
