Woman's Hour Takeover
‘Woman’s Hour Takeover’ sees J.K Rowling, Kelly Holmes, Naomi Alderman, Doreen Lawrence and Lauren Laverne curating one edition each.Â
From female technology heroes, pseudonymous writers to influential musicians and the debate on education, the theme of ‘game changers’ continues throughout the ‘Woman’s Hour Takeover’ week.Â
It all begins on Monday April 28th with J.K. Rowling.The Woman’s Hour Takeover will run from 28 April to 2 May
The five guest will explore areas that resonate with them, including personal insights into the changes they would like to see in women’s lives:- On Monday, will shine a light on the issue of orphanages, and ask why so many children continue to be cared for in institutions worldwide. Her programme will also look at the power and myth of the shoe in popular culture and why Scotland has the highest number of multiple sclerosis sufferers in the world
- Â On Tuesday, will focus on one of the subjects she is most passionate about: healthy eating and wellbeing. What can we all learn from athletes about how exercise and staying motivated can change the game in our own lives?
-  On Wednesday, will celebrate some of the game changing women in science and technology, and will also turn her attention to public speaking – why is it so dominated by men?
-  On Thursday, (this year’s on the Power List) will talk about the people who inspired her, from Maya Angelou to Barack Obama. Her edition will also investigate health issues; and identify some of the most important skills young people need to have in this changing society
-  And on Friday, will present the final programme in the Takeover. She will engage (this year’s number 10 on the Power List) in conversation about her power as a role model and discuss whether we need high-street feminism just as much as highbrow feminism. She will put ‘Girl Power’ and consumerism under the spotlight, and interview Jane Shepherdson, a game changer in the fashion world.
