Vet Adam deals with a life-saving emergency at the small animal hospital in Fife when a dog is hit by a train. In Teesdale, farm vet Richard artificially inseminates some Welsh black cattle, and all fingers are crossed for problem pedigree Gwen who has failed to get pregnant three times. Meanwhile, at the rural practice, feathers are ruffled when vet Steve tries to clip a budgie's claws.
