Litter is ruining one of Scotland's most popular beauty spots, warns conversation charity Friends of Loch Lomond and Trossachs. The group say they have conducted a pre-Easter inspection and found rubbish strewn laybys along the banks of Loch Lomond. Chairman James Fraser, says he's calling for urgent action to introduce a more regular programme of litter clearance more fitting for one of Scotland's top tourist attractions.

Pupils are spending their Easter holidays in school to catch up with coursework for new school qualifications according to the Educational Institute of Scotland. The union's general secretary, Larry Flanagan, says delays had been caused by the difficulties schools have had implementing the new National 4 and National 5 qualifications.
