He discusses how ‘found language’ can feel like your own, once it’s been shaped into a poem, why the music of line is so important to him, and how a little bit of imperfection in writing can be vital.

Lydia Davis is the winner of the International Man Booker award in 2013, and the master of the very short story. Lydia reads ‘Letter to a Frozen Peas Manufacturer’; discusses the voices of her (sometimes pedantic) narrators and explains the important of syntax in some of her shortest pieces. Her new collection is ‘Can’t and Won’t’ (Hamish Hamilton).
