British Inside

1Xtra's Nick Bright investigates life in the UK immigration system and meets young immigration detainees who are using beats and rhymes to tell their stories.

1Xtra's Nick Bright delves into the hidden world of immigration detention centres, discovering how one charitable organisation is helping people cope with life behind bars. Their music room provides a musical outlet and sought after refuge for many of the detainees, held indefinitely in one of the UK's biggest IRC's (immigration removal centres).

British Inside follows the day-to-day lives of detainees, now released on bail, who use beats and rhymes to tell their stories, unravelling the intricacies of life spent living on the edge of a society they thought they once knew.

Featuring original music created by IRC detainees, Nick investigates life stuck in the immigration system here in the UK, which, for the most-part, is kept firmly in the dark.
