And the Oscar Goes to...

Jared Leto, Kevin Spacey and Nick Frost help Rhianna explain the power of the Oscars as she follows the fortunes of the British nominees at the 2014 ceremony.

It's the biggest night in the global entertainment industry and at this year's Oscars young British talent has a chance of taking away two of the biggest awards...and one of the smallest.

Director Steve McQueen and actor Chiwetel Ejiofor are up for Best Director and Best Actor for the epic 12 Years A Slave. Meanwhile two young guys from Manchester - operating at the opposite end of the movie industry - are also nominated. Mark Gill and Baldwin Li's debut The Voorman Problem is up for the Best Short Film (Live Action) Oscar and they will take their places at the ceremony alongside the greats of the movie industry.

Radio 1 film critic Rhianna Dhillon traces the contrasting journeys of these two very British but very different films towards the Academy Awards, and lifts the lid on the Oscars. Contributors including Jared Leto, Kevin Spacey and Nick Frost explain the power of those little gold statuettes. How can awards recognition elevate a film, what does it feel like to go to the Oscars and win...and can Steve, Chiwetel, Mark and Baldwin do it?
