A night out to Manchester’s Palace Theatre in 1914 was to change the lives of Kitty and her young husband Percy Morter forever. Looking back, Kitty describes the moment when music hall drag artist Vesta Tilley put her hand on her husband’s shoulder and recruited him into the war effort. The archive interview is being made available through World War One At Â鶹ԼÅÄ - a Â鶹ԼÅÄ and Imperial War Museums partnership.ÌýTo discuss the story and the archive, Jane Garvey is joined by IWM curator Laura Clouting.

Seida Saric
Seida Saric was a student in Sarajevo when the Bosnian war broke out in 1992.ÌýRather than flee, she chose to stay and help civilians trapped in the war-torn city.ÌýWith the newly created charity , Seida focussed on helping women, many of whom were struggling to support their families after being widowed, displaced, and brutalised by war. Over 20 years later, Women for Women now operate in conflict zones across the world.
