Join Mark Stephen and Christopher Sleight for two special programmes: one from Ben Nevis and one from the Loch of Strathbeg nature reserve.
Mallory on Ben Nevis: Mountaineer George Mallory is famous for his attempts to reach the summit of Mount Everest - and for the mystery surrounding his death on that mountain in 1924. But until very recently, no-one knew anything about a week in 1906 that he spent climbing on the UK's highest mountain. Guided by Mallory's biographer, Peter Gillman, Christopher Sleight follows in the footsteps of Mallory, from his arrival in Fort William, to high on the north face of Ben Nevis.
After seven on Saturday, and on Sunday's edition, Mark Stephen brings you one of the most wonderful winter wildlife spectacles in Scotland. The Loch of Strathbeg Nature Reserve near Fraserburgh is home to thousands of pink footed geese, who go there every winter to retreat from the arctic conditions of Iceland. Mark gets up before dawn to witness them waking up and then fleeing the loch in prepartion for a day's feeding elsewhere. A truly remarkable sight. Plus a visit to Scotland's oldest mainland lighthouse at Fraserburgh. Getting a glimpse of what lurks beneath the waters of the Moray Firth at the MacDuff Marine Aquarium. And a walk along the wild Dava Way between Forres and Granton on Spey.
