In the week that Marius the Giraffe was killed in Copenhagen Zoo, Virginia McKenna will be sharing her thoughts on zoos in 2014. She will also be talking about her work with animals - especially with the Born Free Foundation -which she founded 30 years ago.
And figs used to be seen as the food of the elite but now thanks to celebrity chefs they are proving increasingly popular in Britain. Supermarket sales reflect this - with sales up by 70 per cent in the past year. The cookery teacher and writer, Sophie Grigson, prepares some of her favourite fig recipes and talks about one of her favourite foods.

Farage has recently said that women who take time of work to have children are βworth lessβ to city employers than men. Godfrey Bloom, Stuart Wheeler, Samuel Fletcher and Nigel Farage, have all been implicated in giving these views. Nigel Farage joins Jenni Murray to answer questions on his partyβs views on women.
Pre-recorded evidence pilots
The is running pilots to give vulnerable witnesses the opportunity to pre-record their evidence and any cross-examination. These vulnerable witnesses, who, for the purposes of this trial are under 16 years old or people with a mental or physical disorder,Μύwill not have to give their evidence βliveβ in court. The pilots are running in Leeds, Liverpool and Kingston-upon-Thames from April. To find out how the pilots will run Jenni speaks to Claire Lindley, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Mersey-Cheshire. And to discuss the issues Jenni is joined by Aimee whoΜύwas abused as a child and the Barrister Clare Ashcroft.

Figs
Figs used to be seen as the food of the elite but now thanks to celebrity chefs they are proving increasingly popular in Britain. Supermarket sales reflect this - one major one has seen the sales of figs rise by 70 per cent in the past year. They are used by Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay among others and Nigel Slater has called figs the most βsensuous of summer dessertsβ. Figs were one of the first fruits to be cultivated, were so revered by the Ancient Greeks that laws were made banning their export and they feature significantly in the Bible. To discuss the attraction of figs, Jenni Murray is joined by cookery teacher and writer, and , an historian from Leeds University.
