The education secretary Michael Gove calls for state schools in England to be as good as privately run schools by breaking down what he calls 'the Berlin Wall' between them.

The Education Secretary says he wants to push state schools further, to make them more like the independent sector. He has been setting out plans to give head teachers more powers over discipline, testing and school hours.
Also, David Cameron says there will be a rethink of pub opening hours during the World Cup; and the British surfer who may have broken a record for riding the world's biggest wave.
