The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic launches its contribution to Manchester's 'Strauss's Voice' festival with its Chief Conductor, Juanjo Mena, in an all-Strauss programme, celebrating 150 years since his birth in Munich. The festival will feature all his orchestral songs. Tonight, the orchestra welcomes one of the leading Strauss interpreters of our time, the Finnish soprano, Soile Isokoski for the Three Hymns. Cellist Steven Isserlis brings Cervantes' colourful hero to life in Strauss's set of character variations while the concert starts with Strauss's most iconic moment, beginning his epic portrait of the philosopher Zarathustra.
