Young, British and Sober

Yasser Ranjha finds out why an increasing number of young Brits are not drinking.

Young teenage Brits - binge drinking, lager swilling, drunken louts - right? Well actually an increasing number of young people are choosing not to conform to that stereotype.

The number of young Britons who say they have drunk alcohol in the last week has gone down every year for ten years. The number that have ever tried it has also reduced significantly. Drug use has also seen a similar decline so it does not appear one vice is being replaced with another.

In this Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Asian Network Special presenter, DJ and non-drinker Yasser Ranjha asks is the reputation of Booze Britain on the way out? He looks at the growth of the non-drinking scene - booze-free bars the rise of the Shisha bar. He meets the young people deciding to go without alcohol to find out why and speaks to experts about the significance of this change.
