Retrospective
Antiques series. Fiona Bruce looks back at the most memorable finds of 2013, with updates on star items including the highest ever sale price seen on the programme.
There's a real hunger from Roadshow fans for tantalising stories about what happened once the cameras stopped rolling. Did the owners polish their family treasure and put it back on show? Or did the temptation to sell the glittering items that excite the team of experts prove too much? In this special edition Fiona Bruce looks back on the most talked about finds of the last 12 months with updates on a dozen star items from the year including delivering some staggering news to one owner.
After 37 years of combing through fascinating antiques you might imagine there are few surprises left to deliver, but this episode reveals how one piece of furniture brought to a Scottish Roadshow once belonged to a Queen of England and resided at Hampton Court Palace, why an object valued at Β£5,000 twelve years ago delivers the largest sale price on any object seen on the show: and yes it is a six figure sum, plus did the vicar really buy a lost masterpiece for Β£400 when he found a "Van Dyck" in a local antique shop? As Fiona says, it's been a vintage year for the team with a flurry of exciting finds and just in case you think you have a "sleeper" gathering dust in your loft there's a full line up of the locations the team will visit in 2014.
