Music on the Brink: Berlin Philharmonic under Simon Rattle in Sibelius's 4th Symphony and Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe, plus archive recordings by pre-war pianists Busoni and Dohnanyi.

Music on the Brink - The Berlin Philharmonic and Simon Rattle from the 2012 ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Proms. In 1910 Sibelius had been left behind by modern music trends and wrote his 4th Symphony aware of this. While Ravel was writing for the Ballets Russes and Sergei Diaghilev for the Paris stage. Plus archive recordings from pre-war pianists with an association with Berlin and the Berlin Philharmonic - Artur Nikisch, Ferruccio Busoni and Erno Dohnanyi.
