It was forty years ago that a radical community came to disused slate quarryΒ near Machynlleth and the Green Movement in Britain was born. From those humble beginnings... when the lease was taken out and the volunteers arrived on site the following year to form a tiny commune.... some of Britain's first ever electricity generating windmills and the largest solar roof in Europe were built.
