In recent years, the British public have been made acutely aware of the sacrifices made by both the armed forces and their loved ones.ÌýA brand new play called Love Your Soldiers explores these themes further. It’s just opened at the Sheffield Crucible’s Studio Theatre and is directed by none other than official national treasure, Richard Wilson.

One Man Two Guvnors has been aÌýhit inÌýbothÌýBritain and America and is a masterclass in physical comedy. You get the feeling it’s a dream job for an actor – which is probably why Owain Arthur and Kellie Shirley are starring in it all over again. Owain plays the lead Francis Henshall and Kellie is the slightly hopeless Pauline Clench.

Twelve jurors are locked behind closed doors deliberating the fate of a young boy accused of murdering his father. The atmosphere’s intense, suspicion is rife and they can’t agree on a verdict. That’s the story of Twelve Angry Men one of the most famous and passionate courtroom dramas. Originally a film, it’s now coming to the West End stage thanks to producer Bill Kenwright and an all-star cast including Martin Shaw, Nick Moran, Jeff Fahey and Robert Vaughn.

Mark Williams in an imposter. Not only that, he’s a religious and moral hypocrite who delights in deceiving the gullible. Thankfully, these traits are confined to his latest role as Tartuffe. The play is possibly Moliere’s most famous, due to the scandal it caused.ÌýFor this latest production at the Birmingham Rep, the play is relocated to the present day and set in the West Midlands.

1. The Scottsboro Boys at the Young Vic
This is a highly unusual musical by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb, who wrote Cabaret and Chicago, based on the case of nine black boys, who in 1931, Alabama, were falsely accused of raping two white women. It'sÌýdirected hereÌýby Broadway's Susan Stroman.
The Scottsboro Boys runs at the Young Vic, London until December 21.

2. Tartuffe at Birmingham Rep
Moliere's classic comedy is the first production in the renovated Birmingham Rep to be directed by the theatre's new boss, Roxana Silbert. Mark Williams, best known for the Harry Potter movies and TV's Father Brown, plays the religious hypocrite, Tartfuffe, who insinuates himself into a wealthy middle-class family.
Tartuffe runs at Birmingham Rep until November 16.

3. Ciphers at Oxford Playhouse and on tour
This is a new play by Dawn King who two years ago wrote a brilliant, prize-winning play called Foxfinder which was directed, like this, by Blanche McIntyre. The new play is all about spies and probes into the mysterious death of a young female recruit to the espionage business.

4. Punishment Without Revenge at the Theatre Royal, Bath
This is the second production in a season of Spanish Golden Age plays being staged at the Ustinov Studio at the Bath Theatre Royal. It's by Lope de Vega, it's set in Italy and it's all about a debuached duke who discovers that his new young bride is in love with his own bastard son.

CHILDREN’S THEATRE: Enter the magical world of the Dragon at the Lowry Theatre in Salford Keys. ’s acclaimed production is for families with big imaginations. It runs until 9 November.

ART: Grayson Perry’s famous six tapestries are on display at the Gallery until 19 Jan. The Vanity of Small Differences then tours Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds. And the Swiss-German master of abstraction Paul Klee is at the Tate Modern until 9 March.
