Hardeep Singh Kohli sits in

Esther Rantzen joins Hardeep Singh Kohli to close Radio 2's Faith in the World Week. Plus, inspirational music and topical chat.

Esther Rantzen joins Hardeep Singh Kohli for the final programme of this year's Radio 2 Faith in the World Week. This year's theme is "Living Alone Well" and Esther will be talking about her latest venture The Silver Line which she's launching next month. The Silver Line will be a support service for older people living alone and is a direct result of the overwhelming response Esther received to an article she wrote about her own feelings of loneliness after bereavement and living alone. Hardeep's faith guest is Abdul-Rehman Malik of Radical Middle Way.

Esther Rantzen

Esther Rantzen

To close Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 2's Faith In The World Week and its social action campaign Living Alone Well, Hardeep is joined by journalist and broadcaster Esther Rantzen, who shot to fame in the early 1970s as the presenter of Â鶹ԼÅÄ One’s iconic series That’s Life. Esther was the driving force behind ChildLine, the first confidential children’s helpline established in 1986. Now she's launching The Silver Line, and hoping to do for the elderly what she did for children twenty seven years ago. The idea for The Silver Line came from the overwhelming response Esther received to a newspaper article in which described her feelings of loneliness following the death of her husband Desmond Wilcox in 2000. She lives alone in London.

Faith In The World Week

On today's Good Morning Sunday we're launching Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 2's "Faith in the World Week". This year's subject is "Living Alone Well". With more people than ever before living on their own, we'll be looking at why this might be.

Many of Radio 2's strands will be contributing during the week, and on Tuesday night at 10pm Hardeep Singh Kohli presents a one hour documentary on religion and people who live alone.
