In the penultimate Beechgrove Garden of the season, Jim and Carole are planning ahead for next year as they plant up a spring bulb display, a classic combination of tulips and hyacinths. Falling leaves are everywhere but Jim suggests that we put them to good use and he shows all the different stages of making lovely leaf mould to use as a mulch.

Jim also takes a look at what compost we have managed to make through the season. Chris is with the pupils from Galasheils school. They have a hugely overgrown pond and when Chris and team clear it out they find that they have a much bigger job lurking beneath the water than first thought to create a wildlife haven for the school.

After growing our own chillies in Beechgrove, Carole visits the Scottish Chilli Festival at Scone Palace near Perth to learn the tricks of growing these hot little babies. One of the exhibitors is Scotland's only chilli farm. They grow 40 varieties, including the Moroga Scorpio, which stands as the hottest chilli in the world at this time. Will Carole be brave enough to try?
