Last year, 17 men died at the hands of their partner or ex-partner.ΜύHow likely are men to report that they have been attacked by a woman?ΜύWhat happens when they do? How do children and adults view a male victim?ΜύAnd what is the profile of a typical female perpetrator? The National Conference for Men Surviving Domestic Violence is taking place in Berkshire today and two psychologists are talking about their latest research. left a job in the fashion business at the age of 25 to live in Paris and learn how to a chef. She studied by day and in the evening tested out her recipes on paying guests she had invited to her tiny French kitchen. That experience led to a book which became a best seller and was quickly followed by a TV series. In her latest book she been travelling around France collecting regional recipes and giving them a modern twist. Today she is going to roast duck wraps.

Verdi’s Women – Violetta with Catherine Bott

Verdi’s La Traviata, or β€˜Fallen Women’, is one of the most frequently performed, recorded and filmed of all operas. The story centres on Violetta, a beautiful courtesan who gives up the man she loves to save his family’s reputation, before dying from tuberculosis. Emma talks to soprano and presenter about one of Verdi’s most challenging and psychologically complex female roles.
