Film critics Rob Fox and Eddie Harrison pop into the studio to review The Call, Metro Manila and Diana, plus musician turned author Graham Forbes discusses his new book.
It's all about the movies for the first hour of The Culture Studio today and with a little help from film critics Rob Fox and Eddie Harrison we'll take a sneaky peep at three of the biggest releases this week - The Call, Metro Manila and the highly controversial biopic Diana. Musician turned author Graham Forbes of 'The Incredible String Band' tells Janice about life on the road in his new book Rock and Roll Busker. Plus, Canongate Books in Edinburgh is celebrating its 40th birthday with the publication of a specially commissioned book and a quest to find the next generation of storytellers. Janice talks to Publisher and Managing Director Jamie Byng about how far the organisation has come in the last four decades and what his vision is for the future of publishing. And a special treat to end the show. Live musical performances from a new National Theatre of Scotland production - In Time O' Strife which features music described as folk DNA, channelling PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Tindersticks, with lyrics exploring the plight of the common working man. You'll have to tune in to find out what that means!
