TV Writers; Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Governance
How might the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ be governed if the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Trust were wound up? Plus how earnings for top TV writers are making it harder for producers to export programmes.
In a week where the future of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Trust has been called into question, we ask what alternative structures of governance might look like? Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Trustee Richard Ayre joins Steve Hewlett to defend the Trust's performance, and a panel including former Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and OFCOM executive Tim Suter, and former trustee and Newsnight editor Professor Richard Tait, discuss what a new governing body might look like and whether it would do a better job. And, a new report says earnings for top TV writers have risen by more than 30 per cent in the last 5 years. We ask what impact this has on commissioning budgets, and find out how a reliance on one or two star writers is making it harder to export programmes to the US.
Producer: Katy Takatsuki.
