Soul legend Booker T guests

Soul legend Booker T joins Jools and the band for the first in a brand new series, playing live and picking some of his favourite records.

Back in the studio for a new series, Jools and the band are joined by Memphis soul legend Booker T Jones.

Booker will be playing live with Jools, picking some of his favourite records and looking back over a career that spans an amazing seven decades!

He'll be talking about his days at Stax records where, as the founder of Booker T and The MGs, he played on every record that Otis Redding ever made, and about their own hits, classics like "Green Onions", "Soul Limbo" and "Time Is Tight".

And he'll be revealing how he was hooked out of an algebra lesson to play on his first record and why his mum wouldn't let him go on tour with Duke Ellington! Well, he was only 14 at the time...

Plus there'll be the usual Jools jiggery-pokery involving old records, new records, CDs, 78s, cheap innuendo and a time travelling aardvark that lives in the vast caverns below the studios...
