5/5 William McIlvanney is one of our best known novelists who has also written short stories, poetry and has worked as a journalist and TV presenter. He's regarded as "the godfather of tartan noir" and now his publisher is bringing out new editions of his crime novels featuring the Glasgow detective Laidlaw.
William tells Stuart Cosgrove about five books that have made a real impact on him including his favourite book from childhood, a life changing book and the title he has returned to most often.
