Rob's guest this week, which includes the Festival of Eid-al-Fitr, is Baroness Haleh Afshar OBE, a British professor and a life peer in the House of Lords. She is a prominent Muslim feminist, and characterises herself as a Socialist and a Shi'a Muslim. She grew up in Iran and has written extensively on the country and its politics. In the UK, she is a founding member of the Muslim Women's Network and has served on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Office's working groups, on "engaging with women" and "preventing extremism together". She received her OBE for services to equal opportunities.
