Max and Tanya are devastated as they wait for news on Lauren; but when they realise the true extent of her problems, Tanya realises she needs to take matters into her own hands.
After a night in A&E, Laurenβs moved to the liver ward. Liz the hepatologist reports Lauren has acute alcoholic hepatitis. Max and Tanya discuss their chaotic past with Liz who questions if they can provide a stable environment for Laurenβs recovery. Max insists they can shelve their problems. Groggy Lauren wakes with Tanya by her side, demanding answers and vowing to look after her. Exhausted, Lauren pleads with Tanya to stop. An ultrasound confirms thereβs no longer a safe amount for Lauren to drink. While Max fetches Laurenβs things from home, Liz suggests another option for Lauren is residential care and gives Tanya a leaflet for The Banford Clinic. Tanyaβs calling the clinic when Max returns. Tanya hides the leaflet and tells Max the prognosis β one more drink could kill Lauren. Max swears theyβll help Lauren together. Tanya nods guiltily and stays quiet.
Joeyβs desperate for news of Lauren but is sent home from the hospital. He rants at Lucy and squares up to Peter, squashing Aliceβs flowers for Lauren, then storms off.
Abi waits at home, listening as Cora and Dot discuss Lauren, then flees to the park. Spotting AJ and Alfie downing beers, she shouts at them. She confides in Jay that sheβs a horrible person for being angry at Lauren. In the Arches, Jay, Dexter and Lola surprise Abi with a birthday cake. Jay insists Abi hasnβt a bad bone in her body.
Roxy and Masood challenge AJ and Alfie to run off the calories in their fried breakfasts. They manage 15 minutes before slacking off in the park where Masood catches them.
Kirstyβs rattled when Carl leaves her a note, βcall meβ. After smoothing things over with Max, Kirsty meets Carl to warn him heβll never get inside her head. Later, Kirsty tells Kat her periodβs a day late.
