Sex Education – amendment to children and families bill
P’s voted in the Commons yesterday on the new Clause 20 of the Children and Families Bill – an amendment which would have made sex and relationship education a statutory part of the National Curriculum. It failed – there were 219 votes for and 303 against. The shadow home affairs minister, Stella Creasey was one of three MP’s proposing the amendment.  She joins Jenni to discuss her reaction to the vote and what happens next.

The image of the workhouse is usually that of a harsh Victorian institution made deliberately tough in order to discourage the so-called ‘undeserving poor’ from taking advantage of their shelter. But a new exhibition at the workhouse at Southwell in Nottinghamshire explores life for women there in the Twentieth century when the building was used as a hospital, a children’s home, and accommodation for elderly women and homeless families.
