The final week of the cookery competition begins. The pressure intensifies as judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace send the finalists on a culinary odyssey to Italy.

It's the start of the final week on MasterChef. Over three nights, the Final Three face some incredible challenges, putting their skill, ambition and tenacity to the test as they do all they can to impress some of the world's greatest chefs and raise their food to a level they never dreamed possible.

The pressure intensifies now as judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace send them on a culinary odyssey to Italy. Getting the chance to learn from and cook for some of Italy's most highly-regarded chefs, the three finalists must put everything they've learnt so far into practice if they are to have a chance at lifting the trophy.

The contestants start their journey on the Amalfi Coast where they meet legendary rustic cook Mamma Agata, who made her name cooking for visiting film stars like Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor and Jackie Kennedy. Mamma begins by giving the final three the ultimate masterclass, introducing them to the foundations of her rustic Italian food before she challenges them to cook the dishes for her family. They must impress with flavour and knowledge if they are to make Mamma proud.

From Amalfi the contestants travel to Florence, where they face cooking at the opposite end of culinary spectrum; from rustic home cooked fare to three-star Michelin food. Enoteca Pinchiorri opened in 1979, and its interpretation of traditional Tuscan gastronomic cuisine has seen them hold three Michelin stars for almost a decade.

Finally all three travel north to Fiesole as they face their final challenge and put their Italian experiences into practice. Cooking an elite lunch attended by luminaries of the Florentine art world, they must produce three show-stopping dishes to truly demonstrate they have listened to the experts and mastered Italian food.
