A third of young rural people fear they must leave to get work, according to a study. Kirsty Wark sits in for Kaye Adams and asks: how do we keep them in their areas?
A new study by NFU Mutual shows a third of young people in rural communities fear having to leave their local area to find work. It's thought a shortage of careers for school leavers and 20-somethings mean the rural brain drain is continuing, with communities being emptied of their young people who are heading off in search of jobs in the big cities. And she speaks to Sarah Roberts from Families Outside about her work with the children of prison inmates in Scotland.
