Book Club - Wool by Hugh Howey

Book Club - Wool by Hugh Howey

Hughwill be on Drivetime from 1800 to talk about his newbook

About The Book

Wool is the word of mouth book for 2013. This originated as a self-published phenomenon in the US, garnering over a quarter of a million sales in a word of mouth frenzy which saw Wool debuting on the NYT bestseller list

The world outside has grown unkind, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. In the ruined and hostile landscape, in a future few have been unlucky enough to survive, a community exists in a giant underground silo. Inside, men and women live an enclosed life full of rules and regulations, of secrets and lies.

To live, you must follow the rules. But some don't. These are the dangerous ones; these are the people who dare to hope and dream, and who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple and deadly. They are given the very thing they profess to want: they are allowed outside.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Jules is one of these people. She may well be the last.

AboutHugh

Hugh was fascinated with computer when he was younger, he was also a keen sailor and lived on a boat for a while. He turned his hand to writing a few years ago.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

“Wool” became a sudden success in the autumn of 2011.

Originally just a novelette, the demand from Amazon reviewers sent Hugh scurrying to write more tales in this subterranean world.

The resulting Omnibus has spent considerable time in the Amazon top 100, has been a #1 Bestseller in Science Fiction on Amazon, and was optioned by Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian for a potential feature film.

When Hugh’s not writing, he likes to go for hikes with his family, take a stroll on the beach, and keep up with his reading.

He currently lives in Jupiter, Florida, with his wife Amber and dog Bella.
