JJ Gilmour talks to Phil Cunningham about his music career, which included a spell as lead singer with The Silencers, and picks tracks by Frank Sinatra, Coldplay and Paul Buchanan.

6/8 JJ Gilmour is a Scottish singer-songwriter who made his recording debut with The Silencers in 1989.

Enjoying the rock 'n roll lifestyle the band were headlining at major music festivals and recording million selling albums.

A prolific songwriter, JJ is still touring and recording solo albums and released Slocomotion in 2012

JJ Gilmour tells Phil Cunningham about his upbringing in Coatbridge, explains how he first encountered The Silencers while he was living in Vancouver, Canada and as a long term football fan tells Phil how he co-wrote the music and lyrics for Dancing Shoes based on the life of George Best.

Phil opens the show with JJ's song The Cowboy lament from his Slocomotion album.
