Adele has reigned supreme in the album charts for a second year running. Her album 21 is now close to having sold ten million in the States. UK act One Direction have also broken through with two number one albums in 2012. While a third British act - Mumford & Sons - have made an impressive return with their second album.

On the singles' side, several songs have sold over five million. Which track will be the best-seller of the year? Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and We Are Young by Fun. are still battling for supremacy.
