With Olympian Greg Rutherford

Olympian Greg Rutherford joins Shaun. It's real radio gold. Plus the day's silliest news comes wrapped in a snuggly duvet of kicking alternative tunes old and new.

Long jumper and "self-styled Ginger Wizard" Greg Rutherford became an overnight sensation when he long-jumped his way to a gold medal in the Olympic Games this summer. He's also the 2010 Commonwealth Games silver medallist & 2006 European Championship silver medallist in the long jump. He joins Shaun to chat about his amazing year.

Greg won his Olympic Gold with a jump of 8.31metres. He won on the same night that Mo Farah won the 10,000m and Jess Ennis got Gold in Heptathlon - Super Saturday 4th August 2012. After he won he said: "This is what I have dreamed of my whole life and to do it in London is just incredible, I might wake up in a minute." He was featured on a Royal Mail postage stamp, and two post boxes in Milton Keynes were painted gold in his honour!

There's all the usual much-loved features too...

Has a song wiggled its way into your tired brain overnight? Don't fret! It's only an Earworm. Shaun can provide immediate relief and release from that little beastie of a tune rattling around your head and, who knows, he just might pick yours to play if you share it with him this morning.

You can also nominate a tune for Shaun's ever-popular Song of Praise which invites a listener to evangelise about something they find wonderful.

Plus, Up-to-the minute music news comes courtesy of news horse (and former Menswear drummer) Matt Everitt, while Shaun keeps listeners apprised of the day's lighter news stories and occasional ridiculousness.
