Kaye Adams asks whether it is irresponsible for celebrities to claim they are happy to be fat. Dawn French and Adele have done it, but is it an empowering or a damaging message?

Prominent female celebrities with larger figures have hit the news recently for stating that they are happy with their weight.

Dawn French has recently put back on two stone following her seven and a half stone weight loss - and told Woman magazine:
"I am perfectly happy with how I look and I always have been. I'll always be a fat girl and I am happy with that."

Adele says in her new autobiography that people taking pot-shots at her weight didn't bother her, writing:
"I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn't."
