The Chancellor George Osborne told the Tory party conference in Birmingham "we will finish the job that we started" and that "we are still all in this together". He was referring to further cuts of 拢10bn from the benefits budget.

This is on top of the 拢18bn cuts announced in 2010.

Mr Osborne has spelt out ideas including limiting housing benefit for the under-25s, so that young people without a job have to live at home.

There will be further curbs on child tax credits and plans to allow benefit increases to be lower than the rate of inflation.

Mr Osborne told the 麻豆约拍 earlier today the better-off would have to pay more in taxes, but the budget could not be balanced "simply on the wallets of the rich". But he also said he wasn't keen on a "wealth tax," adding, "in the sense of a tax on your wealth levied annually".
