Fifty years since the first broadcasts of this classic Scottish drama, we join the newly graduated Dr Finlay as he embarks on his medical career working for Dr Cameron in his Tannochbrae practice. In this episode the ambitious and headstrong young Doctor Finlay, played by the dapper Bill Simpson, investigates an outbreak of scarlet fever. The disease spreads rapidly in the local area and Dr Finlay suspects a connection with a local dairy farm. His investigations lead him into conflict with both the farmer and his wise elder colleague, Dr Cameron played by Andrew Cruickshank.
