Clare English with chat and performances from violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti, fringe veteran Guy Masterson, anti-folk hero Lach, comic Laura Levites and 1990s rave show Beats!

Clare English presents, live from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's festival venue at Potterrow.

Violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti joins us, ahead of her performance with the London Symphony Orchestra at the EIF, where she'll be playing some Szymanowski. It was her performance of Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No 1 that won her the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Young Musician title in 2004 at the age of 16, and the composer's mystical music has been in her blood ever since.

Fringe Stalwart Guy Masterson returns for his 12th year at the festival, with his latest one-man-play "The Half", about a fifty year old actor, down on luck, who attempts to reverse fortunes by doing a solo play: Hamlet, uncut, all the parts! He'll give us a flavour of this comedy performance, live on the show.

New York Antifolk legend Lach also joins Clare, to talk about the gap the Alternative Fringe is filling in this year's festival, as well as the three show's he's doing this year, along with New York comic Laura Levites, who has experienced his Antihoot show in New York and Edinburgh, and has brought her own show - 'American Girlfriend' to the Alternative Fringe too.

And for something completely different, fresh from winning the Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland, we'll have a live performance from 'BEATS' - a show which tells the early 90s rave tale of a Scottish youngster, with writer and perfomer Kieran Hurley, and live DJing from DJ Johnny Whoop!
